Yesterday, we published our first post on @GPSCtarget and we received around 19 emails (Awesome response πŸ’ͺπŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†) from students to clarify their doubts about option 'E' - whether to mark it or not?

Yes, we want to walk throughout with you. So, we came up with today's tip to clear your doubts and help you score well in prelims.

What is it?

Gujarat State Public Service Commission changed its entire examination patter last year. and it came up with the 5th option 'E' in the prelims paper.

What is the confusion?

The student who appear for the exam have to opt for Option E if they want to skip a question and not lose out on 0.30 mark in negative marking.

The issues are:

  1. It is time consuming - to mark 'E' in the OMR sheet.
  2. You may miss out on marking it and lose marks in negative marking

So what is it actually?

  1. If you mark 'E' for any question, it means that you are 'Avoiding' answering it and so it won't be considered as a wrong answer.
  2. However, if you forget marking the question of which you don't know the answer - it will be considered as a "WRONG" answer. so, you will lose the marks for that particular question.

What can be done?

So here are the solutions.....

Round 1:

As soon as you get the paper, use a pencil and mark all the correct answers on OMR sheet. The questions which you are 100% sure. No guesswork here please.

Round 2:

Check the paper again and now spare not more than 20 minutes in guessing the answer by elimination technique. mark those answers in OMR sheet with Pencil itself.

Round3:

Now mark all these answers you have marked with pencil till now, mark them finally with a black pen.

Round 4:

  • Try to go through the paper again - if at all you can find any more answers - fine; otherwise, now start marking 'E' for each question that you did not attempt.
  • This should be the done directly with the pen since you have already gone through the paper three times so, only those questions are remaining which answer you don't know.
  • So, don't waste your time anymore and mark 'E'

Round 5:

  • Don't mark 'E' option as soon as the paper begins. First give time to complete the questions you know and then decide to mark 'E'.
  • Because once you mark the option, you  CAN NOT change it. So, better do it in the end.
